Gethyllis species

After the fruits have either been eaten by animals or made into brandy, the leaves appear. Most of the species are fairly small, but what they lack in size they make up for in style. Often they are hairy, usually twisted or curled like in this example.

As the rains end and the ground dries up, the leaves of Gethyllis dry up as well. Which is a good thing too, because they have to make way for the flowers. Flowers which can be the size of a dinner plate.
